Our Bespoke Jewellery Process

The Art of Handmade Jewellery in Canberra

At Harry Rose Jewellery, we pride ourselves on creating bespoke, handmade jewellery designed around you. Unlike mass-produced pieces found in retail stores, our work begins with your story, your style, and your vision. Each design is unique and handmade in our Canberra workshop.

We believe the process of creating jewellery should be as meaningful as the piece itself. That’s why we’ve refined our approach to be simple, collaborative, and enjoyable.

Step 1

Book an Appointment

The journey begins with a conversation. You can make an appointment to meet Harry in person at our City Walk workshop, or, if you’re based outside Canberra, we can arrange a phone or video consultation. This first meeting is about understanding your ideas, inspirations, and preferences.

Step 2

Discuss Your Vision

Harry will take the time to understand your taste, style and lifestyle to create a piece of jewellery that is not only beautiful, but will be functional in your daily life. This will include discussing the type of metals and stones you desire along with your budget so we can source the perfect materials for you.
Step 3

Stone Sourcing

Once your design direction is set, Harry sources the perfect gemstones. His strong network of ethical suppliers – both locally and internationally – means you’ll have access to exceptional diamonds, sapphires, and other gems. Australian sapphires are a particular favourite, celebrated for their rich colours and ethical origins.
Step 4

Final Design & Deposit

With stones selected, Harry finalises the design and ensures every detail works in harmony. At this stage, a 50% deposit is required to begin the making process. This confirms your piece and allows Harry to dedicate the time and craftsmanship it deserves.
Step 5

Handmade Creation

Your jewellery is meticulously hand-made in our Canberra workshop. Harry’s approach combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques to ensure a piece that is not only stunning but built to last. Each creation is carefully checked for quality and detail before it leaves the bench.
Step 6

Collection & Ongoing Care

Once complete, you’ll return to collect your finished piece. This is always a special moment, the culmination of creativity, collaboration, and craftsmanship. From there, you’re welcome to bring your jewellery back for regular cleaning and check-ups. We believe a bespoke piece deserves to be cared for so it can be treasured for generations.

We commonly work with platinum, white gold, yellow gold and rose gold. Harry only uses nickel-free alloys, making them safe for sensitive skin. Platinum is a firm favourite of Harry’s, the natural colour of the metal and it’s longevity, does justice to the workmanship involved.
